Shepperd Wins Sheriff's Race
by Harold Oakes Posted: 11/06/2012 11:59:54 PM MST
Lincoln County Undersheriff Robert Shepperd handily defeated write in candidate Walter Ray Seidel in the race for Lincoln County sheriff and Preston Stone defeated independent challenger Corinne Haley for District 1 County Commission in Tuesday's election.

Shepperd received 5,437 votes to Seidel's 2,594 in the race to replace Sheriff Rick Virden.

Stone's 1467 votes gave him a decisive victory over Haley, who had 585 votes.

County Assessor Paul Baca, District 3 County Commission Dallas Draper and Probate Judge Sterling Spencer were unopposed in their races.

These results are unofficial until canvassed by the County Commissioners. Counting the write in ballot delayed the final vote count until almost midnight Tuesday.

Why America was involved in the war of independence was no longer taught. The patriotism of our Founders was not being taught. The religious faith of our Founders was not being taught and that was the foundation for the revolution. Books, Bio & More

About the Arizona Antique Show: A PIECE OF THE OLD WEST AND THEN SOME….
There is a mystique and an excitement that surrounds re-living the days of the Old West.
Especially since The Old West featured all sorts of wily characters includin’ pioneers, scouts, lawmen, outlaws, gangs and gunfighters (gunslingers), as well as the American cowboy, Native Americans and legendary pioneering women on the frontier. Walking down this sort of memory lane can make you almost jumpy wondering if there’s a gunfight about to break out! But the real joy is the delight you get in finding a piece of that history that tells you a story. Those elusive pieces and learning about history through items that have survived, are just
some the things that make collecting Old West antiques so much fun. Website

For decades now, Washington has been progressively commandeering from local control matters of land access, land use, and land ownership, particularly, though not exclusively, throughout the western states.  States, counties, municipalities, businesses and individuals have been reeling to defend against the metastasizing maze of federal policies, regulations and edicts.  These DC directives combine to not only choke education funding, restrict state and county tax base, and depress business and economic activity, but also to imperil the national forests where increased federal control has doubled the acreage and intensity of wildfires, and with it billions of pounds of pollutants have been spewed into the air and tens of millions of animals killed.  Smoked Bear   Ken Ivory   Video

Tombstone vs. U.S. Forest Service:
"Water, The New Gold"
"Tombstone Shovel Brigade A Reality. "This deal is going to happen." --Kevin Rudd, Tombstone Publics Works Project Manager

BY Harv Twite - America Day Radio   (Tombstone, AZ) The fight between the City of Tombstone and the U.S. Forest Service over access to repair Tombstone's damaged water system was raised a notch or two today, when four large pallets of shovels were delivered to Tombstone City Hall today, addressed to the "Tombstone Shovel Brigade."

According to reports, at around 10:30am, Tombstone Public Works Project Manager, Kevin Rudd, received a call, on his way to Carr Canyon.  He was overseeing a crew that is trying  to continue repairing the city's water system. Rudd stated that he was stunned when he got the call detailing shipments of shovels at city hall.

Upon his arrival back in town, Rudd said he "was just stunned and speechless," to see four pallets of shovels that were shipped from Canyon Construction in Nevada. According to Rudd, "I was totally excited when I saw those four pallets. I knew that this deal is really on!"  Rudd also stated that donations have been flowing into city hall, addressed to "The Tombstone Shovel Brigade."

At statehood, the federal government promised all states that it would transfer title for all public lands within the states. The U.S. Supreme Court has called these promises “solemn compacts,” “bilateral (two-way) agreements,” and “solemn trusts” that must be performed “in a timely fashion.”
Our children and teachers can’t wait. Our wage earners can’t wait Our people can’t wait, for a federal government that has not kept its promise.
This is a speech by Representative Ken Ivory, in Utah, talking about the State lands that are still Federally owned and the rights we have to take those lands back and the benefits that will be ours to take those lands back.
The western states are still waiting for the federal government to keep its promise.

032612 Guest: Lt. Bill Dement (NYPD-Retired), "Delay, Deny, Hope They Die"   Hear It
This is the story of a disabled 9/11 first responder, a former police Lieutenant, N.Y.P.D., who describes himself as an Ordinary Joe, who drove 2,000 miles in two days from the retirement home he was building in New Mexico, to respond to the World Trade Center disaster. It vividly depicts his months at Ground Zero; taking body parts off buildings with the FBI, cheering on President Bush as he gave his speech in the Pit on September 14th, working with the bucket brigade at the Pit, assisting residents to re-enter their apartments and take valuables, and praying at St Paul’s Chapel as people left cards, photos, and lighted candles for missing loved ones. It details the everyday routine of first responders; eating at the Red Cross mess tent and the special bonds that were forged among first responders and volunteers alike, and the compassion of the volunteers that came from all across America. It describes his work at the Fresh Kills landfill, raking for body parts in bio-hazard suits in the putrid air. It chronicles the City’s attempted return to normalcy.

(February 8, 2012) Sante Fe - A bipartisan package of three bills designed to fundamentally reform the Public Regulation Commission received unanimous support from the full House yesterday, but is being held-up from going to a vote

PRC reform may hit snag in Senate
 By Gwyneth Doland │ 2/08/12, 6:04 am │ News

‘I think we have to look at this more carefully than in a 30-day session,’ Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez says.
Measures aimed at reforming the Public Regulation Commission passed unanimously in the state House last week, but they might not have such a smooth passage through the Senate.

“We’re delighted that momentum continues to gather behind this legislation, with groups from the Association of Commerce and Industry to the Young Democrats supporting it, but now we have to navigate the more turbulent waters of the Senate,” said the primary advocate for the proposals, Fred Nathan of the nonpartisan think tank Think New Mexico.

Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez, D-Belen, told NMPolitics.net he has concerns about the proposals, which would ask voters whether to amend the N.M. Constitution to require increased qualifications for commissioners (HJR 11), move corporation responsibilities to the Secretary of State’s Office (HJR 16) and create an independent superintendent of insurance (HJR 17). The three joint resolutions need only Senate approval to be put on the ballot this November.

But Sanchez alone controls the Senate floor calendar.

“I think we have to look at this more carefully than in a 30-day session,” Sanchez said. “We need to take a very careful look.”

Rep. Joseph Cervantes

Sanchez gave the issue a pretty close look in 2002, when he co-chaired a committee that examined PRC reform and made two particular recommendations: creating an independent department of insurance and moving corporation functions to the Secretary of State’s Office.

Asked about the 10-year-old report, Sanchez said he didn’t recall it.

But the House sponsor of one of the proposals is insistent that the time is ripe for reform.

“We need to do this now,” Rep. Joseph Cervantes, D-Las Cruces, said Tuesday. “The PRC has been a continuing source of a lack of public confidence. The public looks at the PRC and it reflects, sometimes, what is worst about our state government.” (See more in the video.)

New Mexico Solid Waster Today and In the Future  More
New Mexico’s solid waste system has dramatically evolved over the past few decades. As recently as the early eighties, New Mexicans relied on community “dumps” which were often nothing more than open trenches. These “dumps” were regularly set on fire to “reduce” their volume and to make way for more trash.
These sites are scattered across the state and can be found in close proximity to every town, village and rural community. See how things have changed! Story

"We’ve become a great country, in part, because we’ve traditionally accepted responsibility for our lives…both the good and the bad. We’ve built on the good and eliminated the bad. Back in the Old West the easiest way to be ostracized by your fellow cowboys was to be a complainer. Let’s not weaken our great country, and ourselves, by being a complainer and passing responsibility for our lives to someone else.
May God always be at your side."   Website
